state fair

James and I went to the state fair today. We went through the security checkpoint in which they are taking anything remotely related to a knife. The guard showed us a switchblade she had taken away from someone.

We saw lots of cows, sheep, a few pigs. One pig got very excited when we talked to him, and was oinking away. I think he wanted to go home.
James got to pet a deer, a llama, potbelly pig and see a kangaroo. They had the clydesdale horses there, plus some lippazaners. We talked to all the horses. No, they didn't talk back.

The furs and feathers is in the race track grandstand this year for some odd reason. Anyway, they have scaled it way back. A few rabbits, birds and the chicks hatching. We went and sat in the grandstand and watched the tractor and grader preparing the race track for tonight's race. Now James is interested in going to the horse races. (he he) We were all by our lonesome and it was nice to sit in the quiet for a few minutes away from the noise and crowds. A nice security guard kept an eye on us for whatever reason.

James has been wanting to go on the ferris wheel for days. Luckily, they had one in the kid zone. We went on that and kiddie rollercoaster. Oh, my aching knees. Boy howdy! Tickets for the rides were $10 for 14 tickets. The ferris wheel was 4 each and the rollercoaster was 3 each, so we got to go on two rides for $10.

We will be going back with John one of these weekends. Hopefully, it won't get back into the 100's when we do.

okay! James is telling me I have to tell you this. When we got home, we watched Stuart Little. Exciting HUH!

Next week is our 8th anniversary and John's birthday. I am trying to figure out what to get him. Supposedly the 8th anniv is Bronze. What do you get that's bronze? Last year was copper, so John bought a piece of copper pipe and made it into a heart. Sweet eh! We'll see what creative thing he comes up with this year.
